When you go out with friends in the evening, put your diet on hold and offer them something that no one can resist. How about sausage rolls wrapped in puff pastry with a drizzle of spicy mustard? It’s a very easy appetizer that goes great with a glass of beer.
Sausage rolls
What we will need:
- 1 packet puff pastry
- 2 pcs smoked sausage
- 2 tbsp French mustard
- 1 egg
- sesame seeds, poppy seeds or cumin seeds
How we will proceed:
1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
2. Roll out the puff pastry and cut crosswise into two rectangles. If you have frozen dough, let it thaw, divide it in two and roll each into a rectangle.
3. Brush the slices with mustard – preferably a thick French mustard.
4. Wrap a sausage in each slice and place the sausage rolls on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.
5. Brush the surface with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds, poppy seeds or caraway seeds.
6. Bake the rolls for about 20 to 25 minutes or until they are nicely golden on the surface.
7. After baking, let them cool slightly and then cut them into rounds about 2 cm thick with a sharp knife.
8. They taste best with a glass of chilled beer.
Good taste!
