In our family, we are all big fans of goulash in a variety of ways. However, since this dish is quite lengthy to prepare, I’ve been looking for ways to make it easier. I found a fantastic recipe for roast pork goulash that is prepared in the oven in one baking dish. It is really delicious and very easy to prepare. Pour yourself a glass of well chilled beer to go with it and that’s all you need.
Roasted pork goulash from one baking dish
What we will need:
- 1 kg pork (shoulder)
- 3 pcs white onion
- 3 pcs tomato
- 3 pcs peppers
- 1 handful of peas
- 3 pcs bay leaf
- 3 cloves garlic
- 3 tbsp tomato paste (or crushed tomatoes)
- 3 tbsp solamyl
- 2 KL goulash seasoning
- 2 KL red ground sweet paprika
- salt to taste
- ground black pepper to taste
- toasted bread croutons on top
How we will proceed:
1. Wash the pork shoulder well and cut into cubes.
2. Transfer to a larger bowl, add chopped onion, garlic, sweet and you can add hot ground pepper to taste.
3. Wash the tomatoes and peppers and cut into smaller pieces. Add the peas, crushed garlic, bay leaves and crushed tomatoes or tomato paste.
4. Season with salt and black pepper and add the solamyl. Mix everything well and transfer to a baking dish.
5. Cover with water to the desired thickness, approximately 1 litre. Cover with foil and bake at 180 °C for approximately 90 minutes.
TIP: if you want a thicker stew, add less water, remove the foil and bake uncovered for the last 20 minutes. Top with toasted bread croutons to taste. It tastes delicious!
Good taste!
