Our grandmothers’ potato loaves are not to be missed by many. They are excellent as a side dish with goose or duck, but they also taste great in a sweet version. Let us show you the recipe for delicious potato pancakes with poppy seeds and plum jam according to my grandmother’s recipe!

Potato pancakes with poppy seeds and plum jam

for pancakes:

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 300 g semi-coarse flour
  • 1/2 KL salt

for the filling:

  • plum jam
  • ground poppy seeds
  • sugar
  • butter

1. Boil the potatoes in their skins, clean and mash or grate (on a fine grater) on a floured board. Add the flour and salt and work into a smooth, elastic dough.

2. Shape the dough into a roll and cut it into equal-sized pieces. Roll them out into patties and fry them dry on a frying pan or grill plate.

3. Brush the baked buns with homemade plum jam, roll or fold into quarters, sprinkle with ground poppy seeds and icing sugar and top with melted butter. Done!
