Baked lids with mozzarella and basil – a quick dish that will fill your family in less than 20 minutes

There are a million recommendations on how to keep pastries fresh for as long as possible. Hand on heart – who follows them? So occasionally we come across a pastry that has lost its crunch but is still edible. And that’s when the idea came – baked bread! Today we’re going to show you a recipe in which tomatoes, basil and creamy mozzarella come together on crispy bread – baked lids with mozzarella and basil!

Baked lids with mozzarella and basil

What we will need:

  • 1 piece of lid
  • 1 cup tomato puree
  • 3 pcs garlic
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 KL balsamic vinegar
  • 1 KL sugar
  • 2 packets mozzarella
  • 1 handful basil leaves
  • salt, ground black pepper to taste

How we will proceed:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.

2. Spread the lid on a baking tray lined with baking paper.

3. Clean the garlic and press it into the hot olive oil. Sauté for about a minute and add the purée, sugar, vinegar, salt and pepper to taste. Simmer briefly.

4. Spread the sauce on the bread. Add thinly sliced mozzarella to each piece and bake for about 10 minutes.

5. Sprinkle the basil leaves over the still hot pastries and serve.
