Delicious poppy seed cake with apples:
What we will need:
- 6 eggs
- 300 g ground poppy seeds
- 1,5 cup milk
- 130 g butter
- approx. 300 g pressed apples (weight after peeling and grating)
- approx. 0,5 cup icing sugar
How we will proceed:
1. Grate the peeled apples on a medium-mesh grater.
2. Pour the poppy seeds into a saucepan, cover with milk and simmer for 7-10 minutes, then strain in a fine colander or through a cheesecloth.
3. Whisk the egg whites into stiff snow.
4. Beat the softened butter, egg yolks and icing sugar until light and fluffy.
5. Add the apples and the poppy seeds, squeezed out of the juice. Mix everything briefly.
6. Finally, add the egg white snow and mix everything with a spoon.
7. Pour the batter into a buttered and breadcrumb lined tin and then place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees C for about 55 minutes.
