Brick walls are a great feature for interiors. They are rustic, cosy and depending on how you style it, they can also be very modern. However, real brick walls are not only expensive but also very time consuming to install. For this reason, we started looking for an alternative that would serve the same purpose as real bricks. So in today’s post, we’d like to share with you how to build a fake brick wall using brick tiles and white putty!
The secret to making the fake panels look like a real brick wall is to then apply a coat of paint to an already tiled wall, the panels of which are properly sealed with joint sealant! Once all the seals are dry, it’s the turn to seal the entire wall (paint using a gypsum-based compound). Gradually scoop the compound onto the squeegee and spread a nice, smooth consistency of compound all over the wall in one big motion. When the wall is slightly dry, you take the squeegee again and “sand” the mixture back on the wall a bit, and re-sand it again to achieve a rough and crumbly effect. This will make the walls look real and rustic.
Of course, you can improve the look of your wall with real brick paneling too!
Get a suitable paint to highlight the joints first and then paint the individual bricks as well. In the last step, take a sponge that you wet with water and run it over all the painted bricks!
