Wreath with mini pumpkins and autumn leaves on a burlap base

An autumn wreath doesn’t have to be complicated or overloaded to stand out beautifully on your door. A base wrapped in ruffled burlap can be complemented with leaves, twigs, berries, flowers, and other natural decorations, as shown in the following 20 inspirations.

What You’ll Need

  • a round wreath base
  • strips of natural or colored burlap
  • dried leaves, twigs, pinecones, acorns, grain stalks, or dried flowers depending on your chosen variant
  • decorative ribbon for a bow and a loop for hanging
  • suitable fastening material according to the type of base and decorations used

First, gradually cover the base with burlap. Fold the fabric into loose arches and generous loops to give the wreath an airy look. Add the natural elements afterwards and keep checking to make sure the final composition is balanced.

1. Wreath with Mini Pumpkins: Shape the natural burlap into prominent loops all around the edge. Decorate the bottom and right side with autumn leaves, orange berries, acorns, and a trio of light decorative pumpkins. A bold rusty bow at the bottom ties the color scheme together.

2. Simple Version with Red Berries: Arrange thin, branching twigs on the richly gathered burlap base. Tuck clusters of red berries among them, which will stand out nicely against the neutral background. Distribute the decorations around the edge with small gaps to keep the wreath light.

Final Tip

Before hanging the wreath, lay it on a flat surface and view it from a distance. The natural elements should be firmly attached and should not obstruct the opening of the door. If the decoration will be exposed to rain and wind, place it in a sheltered spot, as burlap and dried plants may change shape and color when exposed to moisture.
